Whilst we welcome applications from doctors already in the UK, the majority of our RMOs come from overseas.  We therefore place a great deal of emphasis on the support we offer to doctors who are relocating.

Getting you here and settled

Moving abroad can be expensive and fraught with difficulties. Our experienced team at NES will make it an easy and enjoyable experience for you. Let us deal with the red tape, so all you have to think about is where you would like to be based.

Once you have registered with us, and prior to job application, we can help you refine your CV.  We also help arrange a UK bank account and will assist you with obtaining your National Insurance number and tax code (this helps in the retrieval of over-paid tax!).

We will pay your return airfare and once you arrive in the UK we will organise for you to be met at the airport and brought to our RMO house in Aylesbury, where you will spend the first weekend as a non-paying guest. We pay your General Medical Council (GMC) fees and cover the cost of renewing these each year.

As your employer, NES contributes to the costs associated with gaining your Advanced Life Support (ALS - also know as ACLS), European Paediatric Life Support (EPLS - or PALS/APLS), your malpractice insurance and will organise your Work Permit/Worker Registration Scheme (WRS).  We will also arrange your Enhanced Disclosure with the Criminal Records Bureau.

Contact us for more details.

Other benefits you can expect to receive as a RMO with us:

  • Free on-duty accommodation
  • Free meals while on duty
  • Study time while on duty at most hospitals
  • Low level of responsibility
  • Colour TV with cable at most hospitals
  • Use of physiotherapy facilities at most hospitals
  • Choice of working hours

To receive all of these benefits, register with us now.

Travelling in and around Britain

Due to the work life balance of an ABCD rotation, there are great opportunities to travel in and around the UK. As well as sites of historical interest and beautiful landscapes, the rest of Europe is also on your doorstep.

There are a number of ways to get around and see the UK. Mainline trains, buses and London tubes run according to timetable but are regular and the easiest way to travel, particularly in cities. It is also easy to get to other parts of Europe from the UK. There are a number of main airports in the UK, including Heathrow International, Gatwick, Stanstead, Manchester and Luton.

If you have particular questions about travel in and around the UK, please contact us. The links below also provide comprehensive information about things to see and do and how to get there.
