The job description varies depending on the individual needs of our client hospitals, but the main task for a RMO is risk management. This entails recognising and assessing a change in a patient’s condition and communicating that to the consultant in charge of the patient.
As a RMO, you will deal largely with patients in a post-surgical setting. In every task though, you’ll be supported by a close-working nursing team.
To work as a RMO in the UK you will need to meet a number
of requirements, although NES will assist you in obtaining
them. These are:
- Eligibility for Full GMC registration
- ALS and EPLS certification, both recent and current
- Hepatitis B Immunity Report
- Hepatitis C Immunity Report
- Non-infections TB certification (CXR, taken within the last 6 months)
- Evidence of immunity to rubella
- Varicella (chicken pox) immunity report
- A police clearance
from your country of origin
- The right to work in the UK
(if
you do not have a EU passport we will obtain a
work permit for you)
On average, a minimum of two years of post-graduate experience is required.
Experince in the major disciplines of medicine are required, preferably surgical, medical or anaesthesiology, and you’ll need to demonstrate team-working skills and initiative.
Recent paediatric experience is a real advantage and this experience should be clearly demonstrated on your CV.
