Refresher Courses for Advanced Life

NESTA
Refresher Adult Advanced Life Support |
 |
|
The
NESTA Refresher Adult Advanced Life Support course provides
the understanding and expertise needed to evaluate and
manage the first 10 minutes of an adult ventricular
fibrillation/ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest.
Providers are expected to learn to manage 9 core cases:
1. A
respiratory emergency
2.
Four types of cardiac arrest (simple VF/VT, complex VF/VT,
PEA and asystole)
3.
Four types of pre-arrest emergencies (bradycardia, stable
tachycardia, unstable tachycardia and acute coronary
syndromes).
4.
Acquire knowledge about the duties of a Resuscitation Team
leader.
5. Adult CPR
skills
6. Intubation
skills and airway insertion techniques
7. Correct use of
defibrillators and AEDs
8. Acquiring and
reading ECG’s and blood gas results

Paediatric
Advanced Life Support |
 |

The aim of the NESTA
Refresher Paediatric Advanced Life Support course is to develop
the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and
effectively manage critically ill infants and children,
resulting in improved outcomes.
1. Recognition and
treatment of infants and children at risk from cardiopulmonary
arrest
2. The systematic
approach to paediatric assessment
3. Effective
respiratory management
4. Defibrillation and
synchronized cardioversion
5. Intraosseous
access and fluid bolus administration
6. Effective
resuscitation team dynamics.
7. Acquire knowledge
about the duties of a Paediatric Resuscitation Team leader.
8. Paediatric CPR
skills
9. Intubation skills
and airway insertion techniques
